KGM GROUP - Milestones

1938The KGM story began in 1938 and established several garment manufacturing units.

1940KGM diversified into the food sector in the early 40s’ and set up a chain of restaurants.

1960KGM ventured into civil engineering and construction contracts for government and private firms

1975 KGM expanded its operations into India in 1975. Under the stewardship of Dr. Shashi, the Group progressively ventured into real estate and successfully completed several realty investment projects across Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

1981Dr Shashi ventured into the hospitality sector. He went on to set up Padmasree Hotel Enterprises (P) Ltd. Under this company, Hotel Horizon, a ‘Three Star’ accredited hotel was inaugurated. Situated in Trivandrum, Horizon has maintained an outstanding track record for the past 30 years in the hospitality sector.

1987 The group forayed into the garment export business, and has been in the business of manufacturing and exporting leather garments and finished leather for the past 25 years.

1992 The Real Estate division expanded operations and entered the construction and property development business. The activity was carried out under the company name Arwin Investments and Foundations Ltd., which later was renamed as KGM Property Builders Pvt Ltd. The first project was an independent residential bungalow in Chennai. Thereafter the company completed several residential apartment, villa and commercial projects in Chennai.

1994 The garment manufacturing division entered into a joint venture agreement with equity participation and marketing tie-up with Arma Leder B.V. (www.armaleder.com), a Dutch company involved in buying and selling of leather garments and finished leather throughout Europe and China. The export unit also went for public issue and was listed in the Madras Stock Exchange.

1997 The construction and property development division expanded its operations to Kerala including Trivandrum and Cochin. The first project in Kerala was Horizon Park, which is a residential apartment complex with 70 apartments of total 130,000 square-feet built up area. The project was a joint venture initiative with SI Property Kerala. Thereafter several other residential apartment, villa and commercial projects were completed in Kerala.

2007The Real Estate investment division forayed into Coimbatore and setup a local centre. After successfully completing several realty investment projects, the company ventured into development and promotion of residential sites. The company has since expanded its operation in this segment in Coimbatore.

2012The Real Estate division in Coimbatore launches its first premium gated community residential sites and villa project.
